독서동기 및 독서 태도와 공감능력과의 관계 : 자아존중감 조절효과를 중심으로

본 연구에서는 독서 동기 및 독서 태도의 상관관계를 알아보고, 독서 동기와 공감능력 간 관계에서 자아존중감의 조절 효과 및 독서 태도와 공감능력 간 관계에서 자아존중감의 조절 효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 본 연구를 위해 경기도 I시에 소재하는 Y중학교 1,2,3학년 여학생 561명을 대상으로 설문 조사를 실시하였으며, 그 중 성실하게 답변한 466명의 답변 데이터를 수집하여 독서 동기, 독서 태도, 공감능력, 자아존중감 등을 측정한 후 상관관계를 분석하였다. 그리고 위계적 중다회귀분석을 이용하여 독서 동기 및 독서 태도와 공감능력 간의 관계에서 자아존중감의 조절효과를 연구하였다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같았다. 첫째, 독서 동기와 독서 태도는 유의하게 높은 정적상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 독서 동기 및 독서 태도와 공감능력 그리고 자아존중감 간의 관계에서 유의한 정적 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 독서 동기가 공감능력에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 독서 동기와 공감 능력 하위 요인인 공감적 관심 간 관계에서 자아존중감의 조절효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 다섯 째, 독서 태도와 공감 능력 하위 요인인 공감적 관심 간 관계에서 자아존중감의 조절효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 연구 결과는 공감능력을 향상시키는데 독서 동기와 독서 태도가 좋은 길잡이가 될 것이라는 주장의 근거를 마련하였다. 독서 동기와 독서 태도를 향상시키면 공감능력이 향상 되고, 이들 변인들 간의 관계에서 자아존중감의 수준에 따라 공감능력의 하위요인인 공감적 관심이 향상된다는 것을 밝혔다. 주요어 : 독서동기, 독서태도, 공감능력, 자아존중감, 공감적 관심

The purpose of this study is to investigate the moderating effect of self - esteem in the relationship between reading motivation, reading attitude and empathy ability. For this study, I conducted a questionnaire survey of 561 female students in grades 1, 2, and 3 in Gyeonggi-do. Among them, I collected data of 466 respondents who answered in good faith, measured their reading motivation, reading attitude, empathy ability, and self-esteem, and then I analyzed their correlation. I used hierarchical multiple regression analysis to investigate the moderating effect of self-esteem in relation to reading motivation, reading attitude and empathy ability. The results of the study were as follows. First, there was a significant positive correlation between reading motivation and reading attitude. Second, there was a significant positive correlation between reading motivation and reading attitude and empathy ability and self-esteem. Third, reading motivation influenced empathy ability. Fourth, there was a moderating effect of self - esteem in the relationship between reading motivation and empathic attention sub - factor. Fifth, there was a moderating effect of self - esteem in the relationship between reading attitude and empathic attention sub - factor. The results of this study provided a theoretical basis that reading motivation and reading attitude will be a good guide for improving empathy ability. This study also suggest that the emotional ability is improved by improving the reading motivation and reading attitude, and the emotional interest, which is a sub - factor of empathy ability, is improved according to the level of self - esteem.
