【Abstract】 In existing studies, the sign “Following-army(종군)” is considered like an ephemeral term, and is comprehended a mode of participation by literature in which aims to achieve goals of war via associating or conspiring with military. In particular, contemporary 1950s literature studies, ‘Following-army’ in Korean war, it is appropriated in a sort of background to produce many purposed-literature that has been delegated aesthetic features to the military’s demand. By this course, it is confined an inevitable experience limited in war. Pre-existing studies usually presuppose that discourse of “Following-army” is surely obsoleted with the establishment of truce, then make it difficult to grasp the possibility of its continuation in literary texts. We fundamentally aim to rethink this convention, focusing in Chi-hwan Yoo and Bong-geon Jeon’s 1950-1960s poems, henceforth finds the aspects that the poetic subject’s war-writing can stay out longer by producing certain texts, in which introduce deconstructions to various regulative principles within the great Causes of war. When the concept of ‘Following-army’ is bounded in literal understanding, the fruits of it is just banal and passive works which is only speaking on behalf of military authorities. To go beyond this groundwork, we focus the official definition reported in Korean war discourses, emphasizes the necessity to take note on descriptions in ‘Legislation regarding 6․25 following-army badge’. By referencing Article 1 & 2, we can get an important notion: ‘even if one is not an actual battlefield, it is possible to serve in the embedding-army through a war role.’ (So we should shift ‘following-army’ to ‘embedding-army’. Because ‘Embedding’ can intend an implicit sense that interfere with the firm register.) In regime of total war, literature could be granted the integrant means because it is capable of propagating the justification of war and make people perceive the national ordeal so war role is identical with act of writing. Even after departing from the battlefield, and indeed after the war period itself, ‘embedding-army’ can still persist in literature. By this writing, poetic subject in text can practice another kind of his work to go beyond the association with army. In here, his work is not transcription or speaking on behalf of army. He strives to write not ‘commissioned to write’, but instead, write what cannot be written relying on authority. This mode of writing is called ‘textual-embedding army’. Strictly speaking, it means ‘continual embedding –army in text, as ever insisting even after war-period.’ We focus to various aspects that deconstructs the regulative principles in which domesticate literature to great purpose of war. The principles are twofolds, one is ‘of identification’ which forces him to accept a relation of homogeneous and reciprocal with any others on battlefield, and the other is ‘of integrity’ which forces him to purify inner universal lack or disturbing errors. Both are based on powerful teleology incorporating future to present times with an intention that prevents future(a-venir) from remaining as undecidable possibilities. Subject in the very text that strives to deconstruct both principles can stage on a passage of embedding-army. The deconstruction is composed of twofold. One is ‘non-relation’ which brings forth possibilities for implosion to reciprocal and coordinative relation, and the other is ‘openness’ which inscribes scissions to coherent symbolized frame and prevents from integrality. Chapter 2 focuses to Yoo’s 1950-1960s poems. After the recapture of Seoul(1950.9), he actually accompanied the ROK Army’s 3rd Division all the way to the occupation of Wonsan for 10 days. In an essay that looks back on those days, he explains two reasons that led him to decide to go along with army. One is a certain clarity in himself confronting impending death, and the other is the bearing of soldiers, expressionless and unbothered by death. At this time, poetic subject faces the evanescence of bothside moreover the vain of war. Chapter 2 centers on the way soldiers are perceived not merely as living beings, but as beings whose lives already carry within them a void of death. Poetic subject is aware of his ‘belatedness’ because of a gap with them that can never be overcome. By insisting this recognition and gap, he pursues ‘promise of friendship’ with them as a last survivor by seeking a promise to testify their living ways on battlefield. Rather than being wholly identical with the soldiers, he remains with them for preserving a non-relation to those who embody a living-death. After returning Busan, in other words, after discontinuing a bound with army, he keeps his promise via seeing a corrupt landscape in a street and faces of refugees. He carries and encrypts others inside himself and keeps mourning as responding to them. Others is inscribed as a gap or fissure imploding the regulative principles inside subject himself and subject remains to exist not self-evident being but being who contains them and eradicates a separation line through mourning. The Promise of friendship on battlefield is continued and developed as a duration of mourning. Moreover, He pays attention to an attitude called ‘resipiscence’. He tries to criticize Christianity but it doesn’t attribute to blame a certain religion. Rather, it aims to deconstruct teleology embodied in Christianity. That is closely related to inheritance as discussed in the context of Derridean deconstruction. It is deconstructive attempt to teleology accompanied with principles of identification and integrity, ultimately, amounts to the incorporation with undecidable void or non-signifying emptiness. Yoo’s textual-embedding army is put on the passage of implode the demand of military authority and teleology of war through durative writing even after withdraw from battlefield. It could be called in the mind of ‘always-in-battlefield’. Chapter 3 discusses the Jeon’s 1950-1960s poems. If we note the fact that he actually served in the Korean war as a medic, he is not only freed one from Yoo’s inevitable limits like belatedness and gap, but also is expected as a valuable one who could develop the teleology of war toward higher level through writing. But he keeps repetition himself who is staged on past battlefield, but doesn’t submit to the horizon of militant expectation that subtly demands the eradication of the autos. His writing’s bottom-line is not located in conceiving the achievement of teleology, but located in ‘re-living’ battlefield through reminding the ineffaceable signal of death, described in ‘a bullet piercing one’s body’, and in repetition as a experiment to deconstruct a sort of integral reality enframed by regulative principles. Referencing his essay, we explore his following images. He transforms death, arriving as an inseparable distance from himself, not into symbolic meaning but into a precious possibility of poetry, and he discerns the duality of the battlefield he has stood. Instead of seizing the future by the clear criteria of living present, he identifies himself with the wandering beings, portraying war as a eternal shattered noise devoid of any stable reciprocity. And in the field of poems, we searches the aspects of deconstruction toward regulative principles via his writing that implodes the military relation with soldiers’ various equipment. They are equal and reciprocal things to him insofar as they function as ideological representations that remind the subject of soldiers’ way. Yet he seeks the possibility of a non-relation with them by deconstructing the principles. Even after established the truce between South and North, the war regime still remains strictly. Then We examine the way a gap(a galaxy) that fissures the space of barbed-wire that enforces integrity and teleological subjugation is represented, and explores how the anticipating for that ‘galaxy’ or ‘you’ probes the implosion of teleology of war that seeks to collapse the future into the stronghold of the living present. And referencing Jeon’s essay To find poetry, We explore the meaning of ‘poet’s calculation’ and ‘a state of marvel’, then illuminate how the other(you), once of waiting, now coexists with the subject’s life as a inner reverberation within him. It can be found in a sort of enunciation ‘sing’ or ‘song’. The poetic subject’s act of singing is addressed the other. Their relation is non-relation because it is described through the image of “far and vicinity’ and the other has become a void or gap preventing him from constituting a coherent and integral being. Since the other is described by a image of right hand penetrated by a bullet, the subject’s battlefield is always the landscape through the very hole. Jeon’s textual-embedding army is writing praxis to be ‘re-living’ war through experiments the aspects of deconstruction of regulative demands. Chapter 4 extends the our research scope a little, so to speak, anterior-posterior 1950-1960s. We discuss where Yoo and Jeon’s textual-embedding army originates, and how it has developed since the 1960s. Then in turn, we will give a name to the concept that designates its source. First, in case of Yoo, before Korean war, in Korean southern-half, the discourse of ‘preparing-war’ was evident everywhere. But Yoo has not acceded to them, and continually pursues a waiting for ‘pioneers’. In that times, the main features composing his poems were a tone of certainty and righteous man, but these things ironically reveal the impossibility of their presenting or realization, however he insists that way to confront the lack of reality. He desired the days when he would confront the ‘pioneers’ in the midst of war that everyone had foreseen. But in real war, he realized that this is possible only by insisting a dissonance with the ‘war-writer’s model’. As we have seen, he is only ‘belated’ beings and has a unfathomable gap with other soldiers that would be a essential condition to seek a promise of friendship. In case of Jeon, We deal with his work “buffer zone” and find his attempts to re-construct the meaning of ‘buffer’. In substance, the ‘buffer’ actually intends a deceptive kind of ‘smash’ in future, implys the project of northern unification. However Jeon’s subject reconfigures the meaning of ‘buffer’, turning it into an expression of the attitude of bearing the not signified future on his purpose. In this moment, ‘buffer’ becomes the will to endure and to affirm the despair of death, which offers no clear meaning or answer. After 1960s, in serial poem collection Stone, he recognizes the battlefield where it is always ‘sounded’ beyond the tripartite structure of traditional conceptions of time. He does not stop, for the rest of his life, the textual-embedding army that originates from his deep involvement in the experiments of the 1950s. The demand to writers from military’s essence is that corresponding literature to ultimate goal of war. That is not merely moving forward to northern land, but also making a social reality to the integral battleline. In this expectation horizon, subject’s reality completely corresponds with battleline without any fissure. So then, with reference to Hegel, we can designate this figure as ‘Idea(Idee)’. But textual-embedding army means a long-standing journey which still deconstructs this sort of Idea. Henceforth, we can call this unique writings as ‘The Idea of embedding (army)’. In this expression ‘army’ doesn’t mean a level or register of Other’s power to impose regulative principles toward literature. Rather It may function as a fundamental momentum and a mark of openness, enabling the poetic subject to continually deconstruct regulative principles.
