한국어 의문사 중첩의 의미론 본 석사논문은 한국어 의문사 중첩（wh-reduplication） 현상에 대한 형식의미론적 분석을 제 공하는 것을 목표로 한다. 본고는 한국어에서 의문사를 중첩하는 형태론적 기제가 개체 （entities） 층위에서의 의미론적 복수성（semantic plurality）을 반영한다고 제안한다. 중첩을 일으키는 형태소의 의미론적 기여를 구성성의 원리（compositionality）를 통하여 도출하기 위 해, 본고는 Kratzer and Shimoyama （2017）을 기반으로 하는 함블린 의미론（Hamblin Semantics）을 이론적 틀로 채택한다. 또한, 중첩된 부정어（reduplicated indeterminates）의 형식의미론에 관한 Davis （2016）의 선행 연구를 바탕으로, 중첩 형태소의 외연（extension）이 복수성 전제（presupposition of plurality）를 부과하는 것으로 분석을 제시한다. 나아가, 제안 된 분석을 벗어나는 듯한 다중 의문사 중첩 구문들을 설명하기 위해 Dayal （1996）의 누적성 제약（Cumulativity Constraint）을 도입한다. 궁극적으로 본 연구는 의문사 중첩의 의미론을 이론화하는 과정에서 새로운 경험적 관찰과 일반화를 제공하며, 이를 통해 의문문과 복수성 의미론의 범언어적 이해를 넓히는 데 기여하고자 한다. 주제어: 언어학, 형식의미론, 의문문, 의문문 의미론, 부분론, 복수 의미론, 중첩

This thesis aims to provide a formal semantic account of the phenomenon of wh-reduplication in Korean. I propose that the morphological mechanism of reduplicating a wh-phrase in Korean reflects strict semantic plurality on the level of entities. I adopt a Hamblin Semantics framework in the style of Kratzer and Shimoyama （2017） to compositionally derive the semantic import of the reduplicative morpheme. I build on previous research into the formal semantics of reduplicated indeterminates by Davis （2016） by assigning a denotation that imposes a presupposition of plurality to the reduplicative morpheme. I adopt the Cumulativity Constraint of Dayal （1996） to account for multiple wh-question constructions with multiple wh-phrases reduplicated which initially escape the proposed analysis. Ultimately, this research offers novel empirical observations and generalizations in the process of theorizing the semantics of wh-reduplication and, thus, broadens our understanding of crosslinguistic variation in the semantics of interrogatives and plurality.
