The Effect of Running Crew Participation on Exercise Flow and Life Satisfaction

초록(요약문)

The Effect of Running Crew Participation on Exercise Flow and Life Satisfaction Kang, Chi-Won Major in Physical Education Graduate School of Education Sogang University The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of participation in running crews on exercise flow and life satisfaction, and to verify the mediating effect of exercise flow in the relationship between participation and life satisfaction. To achieve this, an online survey was conducted targeting running crew members nationwide, and a total of 318 valid responses were used for the final analysis. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS, conducting frequency analysis, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and mediation analysis using Hayes' Process Macro. The main results of this study are as follows: First, among the sub-factors of the degree of participation, participation frequency had a significant positive (+) effect on exercise flow. However, participation period (experience) and participation time (intensity) did not have a significant effect on exercise flow. Second, the degree of participation in running crews did not have a significant direct effect on life satisfaction. This implies that merely increasing the quantitative amount of participation does not directly guarantee an increase in life satisfaction. Third, exercise flow had a significant positive (+) effect on life satisfaction. This confirms that the optimal psychological experience (flow) accumulated during running acts as a key factor in enhancing overall life satisfaction. Fourth, exercise flow was found to fully mediate the relationship between participation frequency and life satisfaction. Specifically, frequent participation in running crews increased the level of exercise flow, which in turn enhanced life satisfaction. Since the direct effect of participation on life satisfaction was not significant, exercise flow was identified as a complete mediator. In conclusion, this study suggests that for running crew activities to lead to practical life satisfaction, it is essential not just to participate, but to experience 'flow' during the activity. Therefore, running crew programs should be designed to facilitate members' immersion and optimal experience rather than simply encouraging attendance.
