초록/요약
본 연구에서는 성적 대상화 경험이 사회문화적인 외모 기준의 내면화에 의해 이상섭식태도로 연결되는 인과적 구조모형에서 일반적인 자기결정성이 조절 효과를 지니는지 검증하였다. 특히 대상화 이론 및 사회문화적인 외모 기준의 내면화와 섭식장애 관련 선행 연구들을 바탕으로, 성적 대상화 경험이 사회문화적인 외모 기준의 내면화와 이상섭식태도에 영향을 미칠 것이며, 일반적인 자기결정성이 성적 대상화 경험과 사회문화적인 외모 기준의 내면화의 관계와 사회문화적인 외모 기준의 내면화와 이상섭식태도의 관계를 각각 조절할 것이라고 예상하였다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 성적 대상화 경험과 이상섭식태도의 관계에서 사회문화적인 외모 기준의 내면화의 매개효과를 검증하였으며, 이러한 과정에서 타인의 기준이 아닌 자신의 가치와 흥미를 위해 행동을 조절하는 일반적인 자기결정성이 성적 대상화 경험과 사회문화적인 외모 기준의 내면화, 이상섭식태도의 관계를 조절하는지 확인하였다. 이를 위해 전국의 20대 여성을 대상으로 온라인 설문을 진행하여 총 250명의 자료를 분석하였다. 수집된 설문 자료는 SPSS 21.0과 Macro PROCESS for SPSS 3.4.1를 활용하여 측정 변인들 간의 매개효과, 조절효과 및 조절된 매개효과 분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 성적 대상화 경험이 사회문화적인 외모 기준의 내면화를 매개하여 이상섭식태도에 영향을 미치는 관계가 유의한 것으로 나타났고, 일반적인 자기결정성이 성적 대상화 경험과 사회문화적인 내면화의 관계를 조절하는 효과는 유의하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 반면에 사회문화적인 외모 기준의 내면화와 이상섭식태도의 관계에서 일반적인 자기결정성의 조절효과가 유의하게 나타났으며, 성적 대상화 경험이 사회문화적인 외모 기준의 내면화를 매개하여 이상섭식태도에 영향을 미치는 관계에서 일반적인 자기결정성의 조절된 매개효과가 통계적으로 유의하였다. 그러나 전체 참여자 중에 일반적인 자기결정성이 유의한 조절효과, 조절된 매개효과를 보이는 비율은 일반적인 자기결정성이 최상위권으로 높은 소수인 것으로 나타났다. 이는 전체집단의 일반적인 자기결정성 수준이 낮게 측정되어 발생한 결과인 것으로 사유 된다. 마지막으로 위 연구 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구의 의의 및 상담 및 심리치료 현장에 대한 시사점을 논의하였고, 제한점 및 후속 연구를 위한 제언을 제시하였다.

This research examined the relationship among sexual objectification, sociocultural attitudes toward appearance, eating attitudes, and general self-determination. In particular, based on the Objectification Theory, it was expected that sexual objectification would affect disordered eating attitudes through sociocultural attitudes toward appearance. Hence, the present study examined the mediating effects of sociocultural attitudes toward appearance in the relationship between sexual objectification and dysfunctional eating attitudes. Moreover, the current research investigated the moderating effects of general self-determination in the relationship between sexual ojectification and sociocultural attitudes toward appearance, and also in the relationship between sociocultural attitudes toward appearance and dysfunctional eating attitudes. The participants were 250 Korean female aged in 20s who live in Korea, and they completed the Interpersonal Sexual Objectification Scale, Sociocultura Attitudes towards Appearance Questionnaire, Korean Eaing Attitudes Test-26, and General Motivation Scale. The results showed that, first, sociocultural attitudes toward appearance partially mediated the relationship between sexual objectification and dysfunctional eating attitudes. Second, general self-determination showed significant moderating effects in the relationship between sociocultural attitudes toward appearance and dysfunctional eating attitudes. But, general self-deterimation’s moderating effects in the relationship between sexual objectification and sociocultural attitudes toward appearance were not significant. Third, the moderated mediating effects of general self-determination was significant in the relationship sexual objectification and dysfunctional eating attitudes. However, moderating effects and moderated mediating effects of general self-determination were only significant for whom general self-dertermination index was very high. This result suggests that the Korean female aged in 20s’ overall degree of general self-determination might be low. Finally, limitations and suggestions for future research were discussed.
