본 연구는 현재 공급되고 있는 국내 성인용 영어 학습 스마트폰 어플리케이션 중 60개를 선정하여 학습이론, 교수전략, 학습목표, 상호작용의 관점에서 그 특성을 분석하고 향후 교육용 어플리케이션의 개발 방향을 탐색하였다. 교육용 어플리케이션을 관련 학습이론, 즉 행동주의, 인지정보처리론, 구성주의 학습이론의 준거에 근거하여 분석한 결과, 행동주의 학습이론이 반영된 경우를 가장 많이 볼 수 있었다. 교수전략적인 차원에서 분석한 결과, 개인교수형, 강의식 교수법이 대부분을 차지하였으며, 문제중심학습, 토의식 교수법, 협동학습, 게임기반학습, 시뮬레이션은 발견되지 않았다. 어플리케이션의 학습목표로는 지식과 이해가 대부분을 차지하였다.본 연구결과를 통해 체계적 교수설계 과정을 통해 다양한 학습이론, 교수전략, 학습목표, 상호작용을 적용한 교육용 어플리케이션이 개발될 필요성이 있음이 발견되었다.

This study is based on 60 selected educational applications in smartphones, in which its characteristics were analyzed in relation to learning theories, teaching strategy, learning objectives, and interaction perspectives, exploring the course of future developing of educational applications in smartphones. As a result of analyzing the samples based on learning theories including behavioral learning, cognitive information processing and constructivism learning, the characteristics of behavioral learning theory were mostly observed. In regards to the teaching strategies, majority of samples conveyed characteristics of tutorial and lecturing instruction method while only a few were found to reflect that of Problem-Based learning, discussional instruction method, cooperative learning and simulation. As for the learning objectives of selected applications, acquirement of knowledge and comprehension were ranked high. In addition, the interaction between the learner and provided contents showed to be of an overwhelming importance and how little active communication took place in use of these applications. The results reflected the needs for developing educational applications based on various learning theories, teaching strategies, learning objectives and interaction types through more systematic designs of instructional method processes.
