본 연구는 튜터의 독려 문자메시지 수신 유무 , 메시지 유형과 학습자의 성별 상호작용이 참여율과 수료율 향상에 미치는 영향을 알아 보고자 하였다. 연구대상은 공무원 및 일반인을 대상으로 양성평등 교육을 실시하는 K기관 수강생이며, 휴대폰 문자메시지를 통해 정보적 메시지, 정서적 메시지, 관련성향상 메시지를 제공하였다. 분석방법으로는 학습활동에서 발생되는 로그인횟수, 학습참여횟수, 수료율 웹로그데이터를 기준으로 통계 처리하여 결과를 도출하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 튜터의 독려 메시지 수신 유무에서 전체적으로 메시지를 받은 집단이 메시지를 받지 않은 집단보다 참여율과 수료율이 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 튜터가 제공하는 3가지 메시지 유형 중 학습참여 횟수에서 관련성 향상 메시지 전략이 가장 효과적임을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 독려메시지 유형과 성별의 상호작용에서는 유의미한 효과는 없는 것으로 확인되었다. 본 연구를 통해, 튜터의 학습 독려메시지는 학습자들의 학습참여 및 수료율을 높이는 중요한 동기유발수단이며, 특히 학습자들의 학습 내용을 포함한 관련성향상 메시지는 3가지 메시지 유형 중 학습자에게 가장 효과가 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이는 전체 학습자를 대상으로 개별화된 맞춤 독려 메시지를 제공한다면, 학습자들의 학습참여가 좀 더 향상될 수 있음을 의미하고 궁극적으로 학습 수료율 향상으로 이어지는 계기가 될 것이다. 이러닝 수업의 비중이 점차 증가하고 있음을 상기할 때 튜터의 동기유발수단으로 관련성메시지전략에 대한 연구가 향후 중요하게 다루어야 할 부분이라는 것을 시사하고 있다.

This study aims to identify the effects of receipt of tutor's encouragement text message, types of message and gender interaction of learners on learning participation and completion rate. For achieving this purpose, informative message, emotional message and relevance enhanced message were sent to students in K institute where implements gender equality education for civil servants and normal people, via mobile telephones. As an analysis method, the frequency of log-in, the frequency of learning participation and web log data of completion rate during learning activities were statistically processed to obtain results. The study results are as follows. First, the group receiving tutor's encouragement message showed higher participation and completion rate than the group that did not. Second, among three types of message provided by a tutor, relevance enhanced message was most effective in improving learning participation. Third, no significant effect was found in the interaction between types of encouragement message and gender. These results demonstrate that tutor's learning encouragement message is a crucial motivation factor to increase learning participation and completion rate of learners and especially, relevance enhanced message including learning contents of learners is most effective for them. In conclusion, it means that providing customized encourage message to learners would improve learning participation of learners more and ultimately, improve the rate of learning completion. Considering that the importance of e-Learning class is gradually increasing, future research needs to lay stress on the relevance enhanced message strategy as a means to motivate learners.
