<춘향전> 등장인물의 욕망분석 : - 융의 분석심리학을 중심으로 -

초록/요약

This study started by raising question that although the study on 'Chun Hyang Jeon' has been active, it has only focused on 'Chun Hyang', and other characters did not get enough attention. Therefore, I tried to discuss how Chun Hyang, Mong-ryong Lee, Beyunsa-do, and Weolmae's desires are dislocated and approach the cause from the view of analytic psychology. This is because I expected to discover modern potential from classics by understanding not just its superficial theme but even in-depth significance with the help of analytic psychology. In act 2, I selected 'Yeolnyeo Chun Hyang Sujeolga' on page 84 that used to be included in national textbooks because of its polished style and composition. Here I studied and analyzed each character's sense, ego, persona, subconscious, shadow, anima, animus, self, and self-realization. 'Chun Hyang Jeon' is considered to be the classic and is beloved by Korean people regardless of its age. It is important to oversee the whole work since certain circumstances and events, not just the personality of each character, drive characters behave in certain ways and make up conflicts and rivalry. This study considered big events in 'Chun Hyang Jeon' as Gwanhanru get on a swing, farewell and come-up of Mong-ryong Lee, request of bed service by Beyunsa-do, and reunion of Chun Hyang and Mong-ryong Lee. This is because regardless of the fact that there are many different editions, those major events do not change and everyone can identify them. I made a psychological approach to those events and looked into the reason characters' desires make conflicts. Although Chun Hyang, Mong-ryong, Beyunsa-do, and Weolmae all have various human desires, take action for the desires, and exhibit humane defect, observing them grow in a positive way can arouse interest in classical literature. Also, it could be a good opportunity to compare lives for self-realization and those that are not. I could confirm that 'Chun Hyang Jeon' is not just valuable as an old story but even worthy as a modern literature that can be found in our lives. Regardless of time and age, human beings have desires. The reason 'Chun Hyang Jeon' is beloved as a classic even today is that it is the prototype that modern people can also sympathize. Such psychological approach is significant since it will enable rich interpretation when reading 'Chun Hyang Jeon'. It will be a meaningful work to assist readers enjoy the novel and cultivate their ability to look at literature if we suggest more various viewpoints than just to define 'Chun Hyang Jeon' with superficial words, chastity and fidelity.

초록/요약

본고는 지금까지 <춘향전>에 대한 연구가 상당히 활발하게 진행되어 왔으나 그 연구가 ‘춘향’에게 집중되어 있고 다른 인물들은 관심 있게 조명되지 않았다는 점에 문제를 제기하며 출발했다. 이에 <춘향전>에 나타난 사건들을 중심으로 춘향, 이몽룡, 변사또, 월매의 욕망이 어떻게 어긋나는지를 보고, 그 원인을 분석심리학적으로 접근하여 논의하고자 하였다. 이는 분석심리학으로 <춘향전>을 접근한다면 작품 문면적 의미를 넘어 심층적 의미를 파악함으로써 고전문학의 현대적 가능성을 발견할 수 있다고 보았기 때문이다. 2장에서는 <춘향전>의 여러 이본 중 세련된 문체와 구성이 돋보여 국정 교과서에 주로 수록되었던 완판 84장본 <열녀춘향수절가>를 선택하였고, 여기에 드러나는 인물들의 의식, 자아, 페르조나, 무의식, 그림자, 아니마와 아니무스, 자기, 자기실현의 개념을 살피고 분석해보았다. <춘향전>은 오랜 세월이 흘렀음에도 여전히 한국인에게 고전으로 불리며 사랑받고 있는 작품이다. 하지만 작품은 인물 그 자체로 보기보다는 그 인물이 그렇게 행동할 수밖에 없는 상황(사건)이 전제되어 인물과 다른 인물들 사이의 갈등 내지는 대립구도로 얽혀져 짜여있는 것이기 때문에 이 모든 것을 아울러 보는 것이 작품해석에 중요할 것이다. 본고에서는 <춘향전>에 나타나는 사건들을 광한루 추천, 이몽룡의 이별과 상경, 변사또의 수청요구, 춘향과 이몽룡의 재회로 보았다. 이는 많은 이본이 존재하지만 그 중심이 되는 사건의 틀은 변하지 않는다는 점에서 누구나 공감할 수 있는 범위라고 생각했기 때문이다. 그 안에서 인물들의 욕망이 어떻게 어긋나고 있는지를 심리학적으로 접근해 그 원인이 무엇인지에 대해 살펴보았다. 춘향, 이몽룡, 변사또, 월매 인물들이 각자 심적으로 다양한 욕망을 지니고 있고 이를 향해 행동하는 모습과 인간적 결함을 지녔으나 긍정적으로 성장하는 등장인물들을 보면서 고전문학에 대한 흥미를 불러일으킬 수 있다고 생각한다. 또한 자기실현을 위해 사는 삶과 그렇지 않은 삶을 비교해 볼 수 있는 기회가 될 것이라고 생각한다. <춘향전>이 단순히 옛 이야기로서 가치 있는 작품에 머물러 있기 보다는 현대 우리 삶 속에서도 충분히 발견할 수 있는, 고전인 동시에 현대의 문학으로 가치를 지닌다는 점을 확인할 수 있었다. 인간이라면 시대나 나이를 불문하고 욕망을 지니는데 <춘향전>이 고전으로 사랑 받는 이유는 현대에 와서까지도 공감할 수 있는 원형의작동이라는 점에서 살펴볼 수 있었다. 이러한 심리적 접근은 <춘향전>을 감상하는데 있어서도 좀 더 풍부한 해석이 가능할 것이라는 의의를 지닌다고 할 수 있다. <춘향전>을 열 또는 절이라는 피상적인 단어로 정의하여 가르치기 보다는 좀 더 다양한 관점을 제시해 문학을 읽는 눈을 키워 주는 것은 작품을 보다 풍부하게 감상하는데 도움을 주는 의미 있는 일이 될 것이기 때문이다.
