목차

The objective of the thesis for the master is to examine the socio-economic effects of the Fair Trade network. The Fair Trade network is defined as the network between socially conscious consumers in the North and democratically organized producers in the South (IFAT, 2007). Based on not only economic concerns but also political solidarity, those conscious consumers buy products a few cents more expensive that are fairly traded and certified by the Fair Trade organizations. In this vein, Fair Trade aims at giving disadvantaged producers in developing countries a fair chance in the world market.
To draw the conclusion, the research methodology of this thesis is organized into three chapters. Chapter II shows the theoretical relations before and after the advent of neoliberalism and Fair Trade. Chapter III reviews the three distinguished Fair Trade models, each of which embodies a certain form of international trade order, identifying the most sustainable Fair Trade model as an alternative to neoliberal trends. Then, Chapter IV explores three different case studies that show both the achievements and the shortcomings. Lastly, the concluding chapter argues for expanding the reach of the Fair Trade network and broadening efforts toward fairness and justice in trade throughout the global economy.
