본 논문에서는 유리수 개념 지도 시 지적된 문제점들, 분수의 여러 가지 개념과 필요성에 대한 충분한 이해를 도울 수 있는 다양한 활동 부족, 초등학교 과정에서 배운 분수 개념을 중학교 과정에서 배우는 유리수 개념과 연계시키지 못한 문제점과 유리수의 사칙 계산 과정에서 알고리즘적인 계산만을 강조하는 문제점에 따라 유리수 개념을 지도하는 방안을 연구하였다. 그리고 유리수의 역사를 조사하고 초등학교, 중학교 학생들의 유리수 이해 실태를 알아본 뒤, 이를 활용한 초등학교 분수 단원의 문제들과 중학교 유리수 단원의 지도안을 구성하였다.

In this thesis, we will study a new way of teaching rational numbers. There are some serious problems when students are learned rational numbers in class. First, students haven''t had enough chances to understand the various meaning of fraction and they don''t know the reason why they are learned the fraction. Second, although the concept of rational numbers is not that too different from fraction, there are countless of students who still consider rational numbers as a difficult topic. Last, the schools should emphasize the importance of understanding the algorithmic calculation on the process of the four arithmetical rules of rational numbers. Hence, I will have tried to figure out a better way of teaching rational numbers which can maximize students'' knowledge. To figure it out, we will search for the history of rational numbers and we need to know how much students understand the concept of rational numbers. I will make a new plan of teaching rational numbers in the middle school and organize a new questions of fraction in the elementary school.
