여성영웅소설에서 드러나는 군담의 요소는 영웅의 성격과 밀접한 관련성을 지니고 있음에도 불구하고 그 동안 이에 대한 연구는 비중있게 다루어지지 않았다. 이에 따라 본고는 여성영웅소설 중 군담 요소를 다루고 있는 여성영웅소설을 토대로 작품 내 그려지는 군담 요소의 성향에 따른 영웅의 성격에 대한 논의에 주목하였다. 특히 역사적 배경인 ‘병자호란’을 바탕으로 창작된 <박씨전>은 군담 내 여성영웅의 성격 파악의 중요성에도 불구하고 그 상황적 측면에서만 주목을 받아온 결과 ‘병자호란’이라는 군담 자체에 대한 언급에 그쳤을 뿐 그에 따른 인물의 성격과 영웅성을 파악하는 연구는 본격적으로 다루어지지 못하였다. 따라서 본고는 <박씨전>의 군담 요소를 통한 영웅적 성격을 파악하는 것에 연구의 목적을 두고 <홍계월전>과 비교하여 논의를 전개하고자 한다. 2장에서는 <박씨전>이 군담 요소를 내포하는 여성영웅소설임을 파악하여 이를 중심으로 여성영웅소설을 전쟁에 대응하는 방식과 성격을 토대로 직접해결형 여성영웅과 간접해결형 여성영웅으로 그 영웅적 유형을 분류하였다. 분류기준에 있어서는 본격적인 전란 상황에서 주인공이 활약하는 방식과 본격적으로 영웅적인 활약을 벌이기 전의 수행 과정을 토대로 살펴보고자 하였으며, 그 결과 직접해결형 여성영웅과 간접해결형 여성영웅의 대비되는 특성을 발견할 수 있었다. 3장에서는 2장에서 분류한 유형의 대비되는 특성을 토대로 <박씨전>을 살펴본다면 작품 내 군담에 따른 영웅성을 보다 명료하게 살펴볼 수 있다는 판단 하에, 유사한 배경적 상황을 다루면서도 <박씨전>과 구별되는 영웅적 성격을 그리고 있는 작품 <홍계월전>을 택하여 그 특성을 비교 하였다. 이에 따라 천상인으로서 관계를 통해 사건을 해결하며, 여성의 영역을 확장시킨 간접해결형 여성영웅을 그리는 박씨와 직접해결형 여성영웅 홍계월을 파악할 수 있었다. 이는 작품에 드러나는 초기의 시련과 이를 극복하는 양상, 결연에 따른 영웅의 성격 구축, 실질적인 전쟁의 성격과 이를 해결하는 영웅적 능력의 특성을 통해 구체화되었다. 직접해결형인 <홍계월전>과 달리 박씨는 천상인으로서 지상인의 영역에 개입될 수 없다는 성격으로 말미암아 능력의 구현에 있어서 일정 영역 안에서 타자와의 소통을 통해 해결해야한다는 성격이 부여된다. 따라서 이는 박씨의 영웅적 성격에 의한 특성이지 능동성이 부족한 여성영웅 박씨가 지니는 한계로 볼 수는 없다는 결론이다. 영웅의 본질은 직접해결형 여성영웅과 간접해결형 여성영웅 중 어느 것이 우위라고 볼 수 없으며, 이는 궁극적으로 영웅에게 부여된 영웅적 능력의 성격에 의한 것임을 그들에게 부여된 원초적 자격을 통해 살펴볼 수 있기 때문이다. 박씨의 존재 자체는 이미 승리를 보장하는 영웅이다. 다만 작품 내 그려지는 사회제도의 수용성에 의해 전쟁의 승리와 패배가 결정된 것으로 파악할 수 있다. 따라서 이와 같은 요소를 고려하여 전쟁에서의 대결구도를 본격적으로 살펴봄으로써 박씨의 간접해결형 여성영웅으로서의 성격을 면밀히 살펴보고자 하였다. 군담 요소를 중시하는 여성영웅소설에 있어 주인공의 영웅적 능력과 능력을 발현하는 일에 있어 관계를 파악하는 작업은 <박씨전>이 지니는 독특한 영웅적 성격을 파악할 수 있으며, 이는 작품에 대한 새로운 이해의 가능성의 발판이 될 수 있을 것이다. 또한 기존 여성영웅소설에의 편향된 시각에 대한 복합적인 구도의 필요성에 대해서도 제기할 수 있으리라 본다.

For all that the factor of war in a heroine novel has close relation to the charactonym of the heroine, it has not been significantly studied. For that reason, this thesis was focused on the charactonym of the heroine with the factor of war in a war novel of a heroine. (I defined a heroine novel which covers a war story as a war novel of a heroine.) Specifically, <Parkssi Jeon>, which originated from a historial event, ByungJaHoLarn, has not been studied in earnest in terms of grasping the charactonym of the heroine, ''Parkssi'' but just focused on its situational aspects as a war story. Thus, this thesis was planned to develop the discussions aiming to grasping the heroic charactonym which a heroine opposes war through the war story of <Parkssi Jeon>. In the chapter 2, heroine novels were classified into two types by the charactonym of the heroines coping with war in stories : a direct settlement type and a indirect settlement type, particularly focusing on <Parkssi Jeon> as a war novel of a heroine which covers a certain war story significantly. In terms of the classification standard, these were considered: an early process which a heroine takes an active part and how a heroine takes an active part. In result, the distinctive features between a direct-settlement-heroine and a indirect-settlement-heroine were founded. In the chapter 3, I thought it was necessary to study on <Parkssi Jeon> with those types and features which were classified in the chapter 2 to grasp the charactonym of its heroine, ''Parkssi''. Thus, I chose <Hongkaewol Jeon> - which covers similar historical background with <Parkssi Jeon> and shows different charactonym - and compared with them. Considering ''Parkssi'' from heaven settles the matter through the relationship with another person and besides expands the sphere of female, she is an indirect-settlement-heroine. Her charactonym was embodied in the aspect which she overcomes a trial, the alliance with another person, the feature of war, and the ability to settle it. In other words, unlikely <Hongkaewol Jeon> which is a direct settlement type, she has a characteristic restriction in terms of the realization of abilities because she can not directly intervene in the sphere of earthly people. Technically, that is not the limitation of her subjecthood and activeness but her own charactonym. There is no superiority between a direct-settlement-heroine and a indirect-settlement-heroine but difference. I could find out that this difference came from the charactonym of heroic abilities studying the original capacity given to ‘Parkssi’ and ''Hongkaewol''. The existence of ''Parkssi'', itself already vouches for the victory but winning or losing of the war is decided by the receptivity of the social system in this work. Thus, I tried to study on the charactonym of ‘Parkssi’ as an indirect-settlement-heroine through confrontal composition in the war considering what mentioned above. To grasp the relation between heroic abilities and realization of it in war novels of heroines helps understand the distinctive heroic charactonym that <Parkssi Jeon> has. Furthermore it can offer new possibilities in understanding this work and raise a necessity of multiple points of view on war novels of heroines which have been studied in the opposing relation between men and women.
