초록/요약
인터넷산업은 짧은 기간 동안이지만 지속적인 성장을 해왔고 앞으로도 많은 성장이 기대된다. 또한 단순히 하나의 산업분류로서가 아니라 사용자들의 일상생활과 밀접한 관계를 가지는 가운데 기존 전통산업과는 구분되는 새로운 산업형태로서 그 영역을 확장하고 있다. 본고에서는 성장기에 있는 인터넷산업 중에서도 인터넷 활용산업에 대해 알아보고 이의 경제적 속성들이 M&A라는 특수한 상황에서 어떻게 나타나는가를 사례 분석을 통해 검증해보고자 하였다. 수확체증의 법칙, 네트워크 효과, 경로의존성, 잠금효과 등의 속성들은 M&A라는 특수한 기업활동 상황에서도 영향을 미칠 것으로 판단되었으며 실제 사례분석 결과는 그러한 가정이 일정정도 타당함을 보여준다. 또한 자본시장의 미성숙이나 올바른 경영모델의 부재와 같은 시장적 특성 역시 인터넷 활용산업의 M&A에 영향을 끼친다는 것을 발견한 것 역시 성과라 하겠다. 분석대상인 기업의 공개자료의 부족, 최신 사례의 수집 미흡 등은 연구의 한계로 지적될 수 있겠지만 경제학 이론을 실제 사례에 적용하여 검증하는 태도는 여전히 중요한 것이며 이러한 작업을 통해 보다 실증적이고 합리적인 경제학 이론이 완성되어갈 것이라 생각한다.

Internet industry has been developed continuously even for a short period of time and expected more development. Furthermore, it expands its boundary not as a single industry, but as a new industrial form, which is distinguised from traditional industry, as being closely related with users'' daily life. In this thesis Internet-using industires has been investigated among matured internet industry and it is tried to find out how economic characteristics of internet industry are shown under special environment of M&A by case analysis. It is concluded that attributes of the law of increasing returns, network effects, and lock-in effects would affect industry even under the special M&A condition. The result of case analysis validates that this hypothesis is true to a certain level. Another outcome is a finding that immature capital market and the absence of appropriate business model would affect to M&A of Internet-using industries. Although insufficient publicly available data from target companies and imperfect of recent cases may be pointed as a limit of this study, the idea of applicatin of economic theory to real cases is important. The pragmatic and rational theory of ecomics would be completed more with this kind of approach.
