초록(요약문)
본 연구는 자원과 역량의 제약 속에서 생존과 성장을 추구하는 중소기업 의 전략적 과제를 다룬다. 기존 연구들은 흡수역량(Absorptive Capacity)과 조합역량(Combinative Capacity)을 개별적으로 분석하는 데 집중해왔지만, 두 역량의 상호작용과 그에 따른 기업의 전략선택은 그동안 충분히 연구되지 않았다. 이에 본 연구는 두 역량의 수준을 기준으로 조직의 위치를 진단하고, 그에 따라 최적의 전략을 설계하는 ACCE Framework를 제시한다. ACCE Framework(Absorptive & Combinative Capacity for Entrepreneurship Framework)는 흡수역량과 조합역량을 축으로 한 2×2 매트릭스를 통해 네 가지 역량 위치를 정의한다. Tied Feet에서는 흡수역량은 높으나 조합역량이 낮아 많은 정보와 아이디어를 보유하지만 실행으로 전환하 지 못한다. Covered Eyes는 조합역량은 높으나 흡수역량이 낮아 효율적으로 실행하지만 시장 변화를 감지하지 못해 잘못된 방향으로 달리는 역량 위치이 다. Hard Down은 두 역량이 모두 낮아 생존이 위협받는 위기 상황이며, Ace Prime은 두 역량이 모두 높아 지속가능한 성장이 가능한 이상적 위치이다. 본 연구는 각 역량 위치별 관리역할 이론에 기반한 리더행동전략과 비즈 니스모델 전략을 결합한 통합적 전략경로를 제시한다. 이러한 전략경로는 기 업이 현재 위치에서 이상적 위치로 이동할 수 있는 실행 가능한 로드맵을 제 공한다. 나아가 국내 중소기업 4개사의 심층 사례분석을 통해 ACCE Framework의 실무 적용가능성을 검증하였다. 각 사례는 해당 역량 위치의 특성을 잘 보여주며, 제시된 전략경로를 따라 이동함으로써 성과를 창출한 과 정을 보여준다. 본 연구의 이론적 기여는 기존의 흡수·조합역량 연구를 통합적으로 재구 성하고, 역량 수준에 따른 위치정의 및 전략수립이라는 새로운 분석틀을 제시 한 데 있다. 또한 실무적 기여는 중소기업 CEO들이 자사의 역량 위치를 진단 하고, 제한된 자원을 전략적으로 배분하며, 단계적으로 성장할 수 있는 구체 적이고 실행 가능한 가이드라인을 제공한데 있다. 본 연구가 제시한 ACCE Framework를 통해 중소기업 리더들이 급변하는 경영환경에서 보다 바람직 한 경영판단을 내리고, 이를 통해 생존율 제고와 중장기적 성장, 지속가능한 경영활동을 전개하는데 기여할 수 있기를 기대한다.

This study addresses the strategic challenges faced by small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs) in pursuing survival and growth under resource and capability constraints. While previous research has focused on analyzing absorptive capacity and combinative capacity individually, the interaction between these two capabilities and their implications for strategic choices have not been sufficiently explored. This study proposes the ACCE Framework, which diagnoses an organization's capability position based on the levels of these two capabilities and designs optimal strategies accordingly. The ACCE Framework (Absorptive & Combinative Capacity for Entrepreneurship Framework) defines four capability positions through a 2×2 matrix with absorptive capacity and combinative capacity as axes. Tied Feet represents a position with high absorptive capacity but low combinative capacity, where organizations possess abundant information and ideas but fail to translate them into execution. Covered Eyes indicates high combinative capacity but low absorptive capacity, where organizations execute efficiently but run in the wrong direction due to failure to sense market changes. Hard Down signifies a critical situation where both capabilities are low and survival is threatened. Ace Prime represents the ideal position where both capabilities are high, enabling sustainable growth. This study presents integrated strategic pathways for each position by combining leader behavioral strategies based on managerial roles theory with business model strategies. These strategic pathways provide actionable roadmaps for organizations to systematically move from their current position to the ideal position. Furthermore, the study validates the practical applicability of the ACCE Framework through in-depth case analyses of four Korean SMEs. Each case demonstrates the characteristics of its respective capability position and shows the process of achieving performance by following the proposed strategic pathways. The theoretical contribution of this study lies in integrating existing research on absorptive and combinative capabilities into a comprehensive framework and presenting a novel analytical structure for capability position diagnosis and strategy formulation. The practical contribution lies in providing SME CEOs with concrete and actionable guidelines to diagnose their organization's capability position, strategically allocate limited resources, and achieve step-by-step growth. Through the ACCE Framework, this study aims to help SME leaders make more informed management decisions in rapidly changing business environments, thereby contributing to improved survival rates, medium to long-term growth, and sustainable business operations.
