초록 (요약문)
This study examines the complex dynamics of Indonesian labor migration to Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan through the regional economic integration and migration systems frameworks. The research analyzes how wage differentials, labor market conditions, and government policies influence these labor flows. While these destination countries share common demographic challenges, their divergent labor demands and regulatory approaches result in distinct gender patterns among Indonesian migrant workers. The analysis reveals a predominance of male workers in Japan and South Korea’s industrial sectors, contrasting with Taiwan’s female-dominated care and domestic work sectors. Through examining migrant care workers specifically, the study illuminates how Japan and Taiwan have developed formal recruitment channels for care work, while South Korea maintains a preferential system for co-ethnic Korean Chinese workers. By investigating the East Asian care work system and its implications for migrant labor, this research advances the understanding of the intricate relationships between regional economic integration, gendered migration patterns, and social reproduction systems in East Asia.
