초록 (요약문)
Rise of the platforms like Youtube and SoundCloud opened doors for many entertainers who were previously unnoticed. This shift is due to these me- dia platforms enabling easier talent exposure to the public. Expanding model by Terviö (2009), I show that platforms can alleviate compensation inequality by changing debut process of entertainers. This is a different conclusion from Rosen (1981), showing that even with advancements in media technology, in- equality can be decreased. Unlike the TV broadcasting era, the introduction of platforms has made the supply side of the entertainment market more efficient, addressing market failures. This process reduces wage inequality, highlighting the differences in the market structure between the TV broadcasting era and the platform era.
