초록 (요약문)
It remains a difficult task to create a heterogeneous catalyst that is highly active, selective, affordable, non-hazardous, and more stable for the hydrogenation process of quinoline. Herein, we prepared hcp-FeRu nanoparticles inside mesoporous silica nanospheres (MSNs) through thermal hydrogen reduction of metal precursor (FeRu@MSNs). We controlled the shell thickness of hcp-FeRu by using different HCl concentrations, thereby etching the surface of transition metal (Fe) atoms. The resulting nanocrystals were characterized by XRD, TEM, and EDX. The FeRu@Ru NPs exhibited a substantially enhanced activity in the hydrogenation of quinoline to 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline (1THQ) or decahydroquinoline under mild conditions in the water. We illustrated catalytic activities of noble metal (Ru) could be improved by introducing first-row transition metals (Fe) by promoting the electronic interaction between noble metals and transition metals.
