Experimental verification of three-dimensional phononic crystal based pH-sensor using biodegradable materials

초록 (요약문)

We present theoretical and experimental evidence for the existence of a band gap in biocompatible hydrogel-SiO2 composite-based 3D phononic crystals. The crystal consists of an FCC array of SiO2 microspheres in a pH-sensitive hydrogel matrix. FCC assembly is realized using the combination of vertical and horizontal agitation guided by a hexagonal shaped channel. The experimental part is based on the immersion experiment, and the energy band diagram is obtained through the transmission experiment and the reflection experiment. The transition in band diagram and transmission coefficient measured that the composite is sensitive to pH variation. Dips showing the band gap in transmission spectra shift towards lower frequencies as the pH value increases. The specific performance is that when the pH value ranges from 4 to 7, as the pH value increases, the band gap center frequency decreases and we have successfully increased the resolution to 0.1 pH value.
