Biophotosensor composed of bacteriorhodopsin with Ni/TiO2 hybrid nanoparticles

초록/요약

Cell signaling is a process of intercellular communication in which perceived external stimuli are transmitted to other cells. Disruption of this process can cause serious disease such as cancer and autoimmune diseases. For this reason, it is important to control the induction and measurement of cell signaling by applying appropriate stimuli to cells. From this point of view, in this research, the biophotosensor composed of bacteriorhodopsin (bR) and Ni/TiO2 hybrid nanoparticle (Ni/TiO2 NP) was fabricated to induce the cell signaling. bR produced photocurrent to stimulate cell by absorbing light from wavelengths around 560 nm. In addition, Ni/TiO2 NP was introduced to amplify the photocurrent. The result indicates that the change of membrane potential was induceed by biophotosensor. This fabricated bR and Ni/TiO2 NP based biophotosensor can be applied as a novel platform for generation of cell signaling in cells that constitute artificial eyes.
