초록/요약
This paper takes China's cross-regional and cross-year high-speed rail construction as an opportunity to use panel data and two-way fixed effects model in 100 China prefecture-level cities from 2001 to 2017 to give an empirical test of the impact of high-speed rail on urban economy. It also focuses on the time lag effect and endogenous problem. This paper finds that the high-speed rail construction drives urban economic growth. The average annual GDP growth rate of high-speed rail cities is 0.13% higher than that of neighboring unopened high-speed rail cities, and employment growth 9.9 million higher than that of neighboring unopened high-speed rail cities. And the opening of high-speed rail has significantly time-lag effect on the urban economy.

본 연구의 목적은 중국 내에서 고속철도 개통이 도시 경제에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 분석하는 데 있다. 중국의 2001년부터 2017년까지 100개 지급시의 패널 데이터를 이용하였으며, 고속철도 개통에 따른 시차 효과와 내생 문제를 중점적으로 논의하기 위하여 two-way fixed effects model을 적용하였다. 분석결과, 평균적으로 고속철도 개통 도시의 경제성장 속도는 다른 미개통 도시보다 약 0.13% 더 빠르며 고용인구 증가 속도는 고속철도 미개통 도시보다 약 9.9만 명 더 높다는 것을 발견하였다. 추가적으로 고속철도 개통이 도시 경제에 미치는 영향은 유의미한 시차 효과를 가지고 있음을 확인하였다.
