The characteristics of P-doped ordered mesoporous alumina-supported cobalt catalyst and its effects on Fischer-Tropsch synthesis

Cobalt-based catalysts for Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS) were prepared by using phosphorus-doped γ-Al2O3 and ordered mesoporous alumina (OMA). Powder X-ray diffraction results for catalysts revealed that the addition of P increased the average particle size of the Co3O4 crystals due to weakened interactions between the metal and the support. The average particle size of Co3O4 in OMA-supported catalysts increased less than γ-Al2O3 catalysts after P doping due to the 2-D hexagonal pore structure of OMA. OMA-supported catalyst showed more stable and higher C5+ selectivity than γ-Al2O3-supported catalyst.
