본고에서는 합성동사에서 두 동사 사이에 사용되는 '-아/어'의 의미 기능을 살펴보고, '-아/어'의 의미 기능에 따라 합성동사를 명확하게 분류하는 것을 논문의 목적으로 한다. 지금까지 합성동사에 관한 연구에서 대부분 합성동사의 형성에 대한 연구인데, 합성동사 속 '-아/어'의 의미 기능에 관한 연구가 많지 않았다. 그리고 이전의 연구에서 모두 '-아/어'가 단일한 의미 기능을 존재하는 관점을 가지고 있었다. 하지만 본고에서 '-아/어'가 한 가지 이상의 의미 기능을 가질 수 있는 것을 살펴보았다. 본고는 '-아/어'의 의미 기능을 확인하기 위해 21세기 세종계획 말뭉치에서 ‘-아/어’가 들어가 있는 합성동사들 중 후행 동사 빈도수가 높은 11가지의 동사를 선정하여, 본동사와 본동사가 결합하여 형성되는 148개의 합성동사를 연구대상으로 선정하였다. 본고는 2.2.1에서 국어의 접사와 연결어미를 살펴보고 국어에서의 수식과 연결 의미 기능을 정리하였다. 이를 통해서 2.2.2와 2.2.3에서 합성동사 속 '-아/어'가 표현한 수식과 연결 의미 기능의 규칙을 설정하였다. '-아/어'가 수식 의미 기능을 가질 때 선행동사와 결합하여 후행동사를 수식한다. 그리고 합성동사에서 후행동사가 중심의미를 가진다. 반면에, '-아/어'가 연결 의미 기능을 가질 때 선후행동사가 독립하고 대등하게 존재한다.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the semantic functions of '-a/e' used in two verbs in compose verbs and to clearly classify compose verbs according to the semantic function of '-a/e'. Up to now, most studies of compose verbs have been focused on the formation of compose verbs, and there are not many studies on the semantic function of '-a/e'in compose verbs. And in all of these studies, '-a/e' had a point of existence of a single semantic function. However, this paper have observed that '-a/e' can have more than one semantic function. In order to confirm the semantic function of '-a/e', this paper selects eleven verbs with high frequency of trailing verbs among compose verbs containing '-a/e' in the 21st Sejong Plan corpus, Were selected them as the study subjects. In this paper, we examine the affix and connection endings of Korean language in 2.2.1 and summarize their modulation and connection semantics. In 2.2.2 and 2.2.3, we formulated the expressions of '-a/e' in compose verbs and set the rules of modulation and connection semantics. When '-a/e' has a modulation function, it is combined with the preceding verb to form the following verb. And trailing verb in compose verbs has central meaning. On the other hand, when '-a/e' has a connection meaning function, preceding verb and trailing verb is independent and equal.
