Strengthening of Mechanically Fastened Joints for Dissimilar Materials

초록/요약

The use of mechanical fastenings for dissimilar materials is general due to high strength and ease of assembly. However a drawback of mechanically fastened joints for dissimilar materials is that failure is difficult to detect and predict. To overcome these drawbacks, many strengthening technologies have been suggested. In this research, Strengthening mechanically fastened joint using CFRP composites is investigated. To reinforce joining parts, CFRP composites are applied on fastened joints and tested. The effects of using CFRP composites are studied by experimental and numerical method. The results showed that using CFRP on mechanically fastened joints can improve both lap shear strength and bending strength.
