Kinetic Modeling of Chemical Adsorption of CO2 on an Amine-Functionalized Solid Sorbent

초록/요약

The goal of this paper to simulate the adsorption kinetic model for the case of fixed bed. The research is done by a collaboration of different institutes where the sorbent is developed by the KAIST institute. The adsorption of CO2 on amine functionalized sorbent 0.37BO-PEI is measured using AutoChemII2920 and the adsorption kinetic model is simulated for fixed bed system. The experiment is conducted for three temperature and three partial pressures which is totally nine set of experiment used in the mathematical modeling. In this study Langmuir isotherm and Langmuir kinetic models are used to characterize the sorbet and to perform breakthrough analysis for the adsorption of CO2. The large tube distance between gas inlet, sample holder and TCD cause large time delay. For this a tube dynamics model is done to avoid the time delay that occur in TCD data sampling. SOPDT transfer function model is used for tube dynamics to compensate the time delay. The fixed bed model is derived from one dimensional gas phase mass balance which is a PDE that describes unsteady sate adsorption system or the system of fixed bed before it riches equilibrium. The solution of the PDE is solved numerically using cubic spline collocation method (CSCM) with Matlab2016b. The required kinetic parameters are obtained from the model and a good agreement of experimental data with model simulation is obtained.
