Robust design of slide rail based on a non-linear wear model

초록/요약

Slide rail commonly used for drawers of appliances and furniture is caused to wear occurrence and increment of deflection according to long-term use. The amount of deflection increased by wear is life criteria of slide rail. Therefore, understanding the mechanism of wear occurrence and formulation of accurate wear prediction model are required in order to predict the slide rail life. In this study, wear model was selected considering two types of wear as linear and non-linear wear in order to increase reliability. Linear wear model was used for Archard wear model, and non-linear wear model was used for Lemaitre damage model. Then, the wear models were applied to DEFORM 3D which is FEA program. By using the simulation model, the amount of wear could be calculated and wear geometry was updated in the material surface. Therefore, deflection caused by wear could be simulated. Slide rail wear test was performed in order to measure the deflection by wear according to cycle. The test results were compared with results of simulation applied wear models to validate wear model. Also, optimal design which aims to minimization of slide rail deflection by the wear was progressed using the verified simulation model. As a result, if the precise wear models were formulated considering both linearity and non-linearity, possibility of slide rail life prediction and optimal design based on wear has been shown by applying wear models to simulation.
