Crosslinking Effects on crystallization of lysozyme in Crosslinked Hydrogel matrices

초록/요약

The real cell has very small volume surrounded by the membrane and extremely crowded structures containing the various kinds of biological macromolecules. In these environments, biochemical reaction is different from the general environment. However, it is not clear that these crowed and confined environments influence the reaction whether faster or slower. In this study, to confirm the effect of biochemical reaction in the intercellular environment, we mimic the cell-like environment. Poly (ethylene glycol) diarylate (PEGDA) polymers are used to make the crowed environment. Then, to make the confined environment, we make the PEGDA cross-linked hydrogels that have internal pores by irradiating the UV. Hen egg white lysozyme (HEWL) is used the crystallized reactant to confirm the influence on the reaction in each environment.
