Development of biological capping technique for heavy metals purification in sea water

초록/요약

Marine heavy metal pollution is a very serious situation. Other country applied a capping technique as a method for handling such a heavy metals. But heavy metal removal efficiency is relatively low disadvantages when using only carrier as a capping material. Therefore, we developed a continuous capping technique of biological purification by using a microorganism with such a capping materials. Zeolite and recycled aggregate was selected the carrier that is possible to adsorption of heavy metals. Here attached to desulfovibrio desulfuricans (D.desulfuricans) effectively to produce a microbial carrier. The created using a microorganism carrier was measured for heavy metals removal efficiency. As a result, we are confirmed that heavy metal removal efficiencies significantly raised than only using the existing microorganism and carrier. In addition, we were performed a research given the change in temperature and heavy metals in order to determine if possible the actual marine application. The result was predicted that microbe carrier is able to continuously purification of heavy metals. Finally confirmed the degree of purification of heavy metals by using a microbe carrier as a capping material coated on the actual marine sediments. After 30 days, the amount of heavy metals was measured using a continuous extraction. As a result, heavy metals in sediments was confirmed that a large amount of adsorption by microbe carrier. In addition, it was confirmed that the conversion to the stable form does not move easily in ecosystem. This is not a simple removal of heavy metals. Therefore, it is predicted that significantly reduces the ability of bioaccumulation.
