초록/요약
Polyolefin elastomer (POE) has several characteristics such as high elasticity and impact resistance, so it is used as the materials of automotive components. As POE is blended with polystyrene (PS), one of the four major thermoplastics, increase of mechanical properties is expected. But POE and PS are basically immiscible poly-mers. So, ultrasonic wave is used to form the POE/PS blends. Generally, it is known that ultrasound forms polymer radicals, which improves the compatibility of immiscible polymers. In this study, the sonication time effects on POE/PS im-miscible blends are studied. In other to evaluate the sonication time effects on properties, plate-plate rheometer, universal test machine (UTM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and ATR are used. According to these results, 10sec of soni-cation time is the most proper time to improve the mechanical properties of PS 10wt% of POE/PS blends and the properties of blends degrade as sonication time increases from that time.
