탐사보도 프로그램 작가공간의 작동 매커니즘에 관한 연구 : Bourdieu(부르디외)의 정치적 장, 경제적 장을 중심으로

본 연구는 Bourdieu가 제시한 장이론(場理論, Field theory)개념을 분석의 틀로 이용해 현업에 있는 탐사보도프로그램의 구성작가가 가지고 있는 저널리즘 인식이 탐사보도 프로그램 내에서 어떻게 생성되었고 계급적 이해관심은 어떻게 구조화되고 있는지 살펴보는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 첫째, 정치적 장과 경제적 장이 탐사보도프로그램의 작가 장에 어떻게 작동되는가, 둘째, 탐사보도 프로그램의 제작과정에서 PD와의 관계는 어떻게 투쟁적 관계가 형성되는가, 구성작가는 어떻게 자신의 사회적 위치를 구성해가며 외부의 장과는 어떠한 관계를 맺는가를 중심으로 논의를 전개했다. 연구방법으로는 심층면접 방법을 활용했고 국내 지상파 탐사보도프로그램의 현 제작진 이거나 또는 제작진이었던 작가 10명을 대상으로 삼았다. 이를 통해 다음과 같은 결과를 도출했다. 첫째, 정치·사회적으로 민감한 주제들을 다루게 되는 탐사보도 프로그램들은 정치·경제적 권력의 압력을 받고 있는 가운데 특히 최근 들어 정치적 장의 영향력은 물론 경제적 장의 영향력도 커지는 있는 것으로 보인다. 특히 이해 당사자가 문제를 제기하는 경우, 소송이라는 압력이 직접적으로 제작자들의 의사결정에 영향을 미치고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 탐사보도프로그램에서 구성작가와 PD는 때로는 상호 투쟁적이지만 때로는 상호 보완적인 관계를 유지하고 있었는데, 특히 이번 연구에서 주목한 것으로 팀을 총괄하는 CP(팀장급 피디)가 수행하는 컨펌(confirm) 이라는 과정이었다. 컨펌 과정은 탐사보도프로그램의 위계질서를 구분하는 핵심적인 요소로 제작에 참여하는 구성 작가들은 매우 자연스럽고 당연한 것으로 받아들이고 있는 것으로 보였다. 탐사보도프로그램은 여러 장들이 합쳐진 체계로 존재하고 있고 저널리스트로서의 구성작가도 그 장안에서 생존해야 하는 상황에서 자신들이 저널리스트로 존재하면서도 자신들이 누구이며 무엇을 해야 하는 존재인지를 인식하는 측면에서는 비교적 명확히 알고 있지는 않은 것으로 보인다. 더불어 이들의 영향력이 점차 커지는 가운데 오히려 방송 콘텐츠의 퇴행을 우려할 수도 있다는 점에서 이들의 책임과 권리를 제시하는 가이드라인, 체계화된 교육 프로그램의 지원이 절실해 보인다.

This study investigates how writers' perception on the journalism have been formed in the investigative journalism program by using Bourdieu’s Field Theory. The research also focuses on observing how the interest and understanding of writers’ classes have been structured. First, this study examines how political and economical field operates in the program writers’ field. Second, this study investigates how conflicts between producers and writers are formed in the production progress of the investigative journalism program. Third, this study focuses on how writers form their social status and build up the relationship with the outside of fields. As a research method, this study conducted in-depth interviews with 10 writers who has worked for national terrestrial investigative journalism program. The followings are results: First, investigative journalism programs which usually deal with socially and politically sensitive topics are under pressure of political and economic authorities. Moreover , the programs have been influenced by the political field as well as economical field. Among the various ways of interest parties’ resistance, lawsuit have a direct impact on producers’ decision making. Second, writers and producers sometimes fight against each other or help each other in investigative journalism programs. In particular, this study focused on the process of being 'confirmed' by the chief producer who controls the team. The process of 'being confirmed' seemed to be a key factor for the hierarchy of the program, which was well accepted by writers participating in the production. Investigative journalism program consists of a system containing several fields. The writers working for investigative journalism programs have to survive in those fields as journalist. However, the writers rarely understood what they were supposed to do as journalist. As the writers’ influence on programs are increased, it is necessary that news organizations provide the education programs and the guidelines for their responsibilities and rights.
