Emission Characteristics of a deformed microcavity laser comprised of two half-ellipses

초록/요약 도움말

We study the emission characteristics of a microcavity laser comprised two half-ellipses. The microcavity has two geometrical parameters, two eccentricities, which permit a control of the directional emission. The microcavity with two small eccentricities enables to generate a whispering gallery mode (WGM) with high Q-factor. For the analysis of the emission characteristics, we study ray dynamical behavior in the cavity such as Poincare Surface of Section (PSOS) and Survival Probability Distribution (SPD). In the numerical analysis, the rays are chaotic with several island chains in PSOS, and the SPD exhibit tongues below the critical line which indicates directional emission. In the experiment, the laser has high Q-factor but does not generate directional emission that is not confirmed with the numerical analysis.
