본 연구는 지각된 어머니의 심리통제가 대학생의 내면화 문제에 영향을 미치는 과정에서 대학생의 완벽주의와 인정욕구가 매개효과를 가지는지 알아보기 위한 목적으로 수행되었다. 이를 위해 서울지역에 소재하는 대학교에 재학 중인 남녀 대학생 500명(N=500)을 대상으로 수집한 자기보고 설문지 자료를 분석하였다. SPSS 18.0 프로그램과 AMOS 18.0 프로그램을 사용하여 지각된 어머니의 심리통제가 내면화 증상에 영향을 미치는 과정에 완벽주의와 인정욕구의 이중 완전 매개효과를 가정한 경로구조모형과 심리통제가 인정욕구에 직접적인 영향도 미치는 부분매개모형인 대안모형의 적합도를 비교 분석하였다. 본 연구의 주요 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대학생이 지각한 모의 심리통제, 완벽주의, 인정욕구, 우울 및 불안은 성별에 따라 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 여자 대학생이 남자 대학생에 비해 심리통제, 완벽주의, 인정욕구, 우울과 불안 모두를 더 높게 지각했다. 둘째, 구조방정식 분석 결과 심리통제가 증가할수록 완벽주의가 가중되었으며, 완벽주의가 심화될수록 인정욕구가 증가하여 우울과 불안으로 평가한 내면화 문제 수준이 높아지는 이중 완전매개 경로구조모형의 적합도가 대안모형보다 좋게 나왔다. 본 연구결과는 어머니의 심리통제가 대학생의 완벽주의와 인정욕구를 통하여 대학생의 내면화 문제에 영향을 미치는 경로를 확인함으로써 성인이 된 대학생 자녀에게도 어머니의 심리통제가 영향을 미치고 있음을 밝혔다, 심리통제와의 관련성이 알려지지 않은 인정욕구가 완벽주의와 함께 심리통제와 대학생의 내면화 문제 간의 관계를 매개하는 요인임을 밝혀 내면화 문제를 호소하는 대학생 상담 방향을 설정하기 위한 기초 자료를 제시한 의의가 있다. 본 연구의 제한점과 후속연구를 위한 제언을 논의에 포함하였다.

The present study proposed that the relationship between perceived maternal psychological control and internalized problems among college students is mediated by perfectionism and the need for approval. Self-report questionnaires from a sample of 500 (N=500) undergraduate students in the greater Seoul area were analyzed using the SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0. Results indicated that there was a significant gender difference, with female students reporting greater level of perceived maternal psychological control, perfectionism, the need for approval, depression and anxiety. The proposed model with perceived maternal psychological control significantly influencing the level of perfectionism, which, in turn, significantly increased the need for approval, and subsequently increased the level of anxiety and depression, had good fit indices. Current findings regarding a full mediation effect of perfectionism and the need for approval in the relationship between perceived maternal psychological control and internalized problems add to the extent literature on the effect of maternal psychological control. Clinical implications and limitations of the present study as well as suggestions for future study were also included in the discussion.
