초록/요약
최근 한국의 주류 대중음악 시장은 기획형 아이돌 음악으로 획일화 되고 있는 현상이 두드러진다. 이러한 현상이 지속되고 있는 것은 결국 기획형 가수들 이 시장에서 팔리기 때문일 것이다. 따라서 생산자 측에서는 더 많은 가수들을 양산해 내고, 이를 바탕으로 국내뿐 아니라 범아시아적 시장을 석권하고 있는 실정이다. 이러한 장르 편중 현상은 상업적인 측면에서 봤을 때는 바람직하지만, 문화적인 측면으로는 바람직하지 못한 현상이다. 게다가 문화적 편중 현상으로 인해 장기적으로 문화산업이 스스로 위기를 자초할 위험도 존재한다. 이러한 주류 대중음악 계의 장르 편중 현상도 바람직하지 못하지만, 인디 씬마저 주류의 획일화 현상을 닮아가고 있다는 인상을 지우기 힘들다. 최근 장기하와 얼굴들을 시작으로 시작된 포크 락 장르의 열기는 ‘10cm’가 이어가기 시작했고, 홍대 인디씬은 이제 펑크 락이 아닌 감성적이며 부드러운 포크 락 계통의 음악이 대표하고 있다. 인디음악은 대중음악 계의 뿌리가 되는 곳으로 인디 씬마저 획일화된 장르의 음악들만 양산된다면, 앞으로 한류 음악은 물론 국내 대중음악 시장도 다 사장되는 결과를 초래할 위험이 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 한국 대중음악의 근간이 되는 인디 씬에서 보이는 장르 편중 경향이 어느 정도 인지 밝히고 그 원인을 밝히는 것에 있다. 이를 위해 먼저 국내 인디 차트를 분석하고, 국내에서 개최되는 뮤직 페스티벌의 라인업을 분석하였으며, 마지막으로 국내에서 발행된 인디 음반을 조사하여, 그에 대한 장르를 조사하였다. 이 연구결과를 바탕으로 국내 대중음악 계의 발전을 위해 우리나라 인디씬이 여러 장르에 걸쳐 더욱 활성화 되었으면 한다.

In recent years, K-pop Chart is occupied by Boy and Girl groups a.k.a Idol singers. The cause of recent phenomenon is probably based on the stable selling records of Idol singers. This phenomenon is going not only on Korean music market but also on Pan-Asiatic market as well. Apparently it looks fine when it comes to industrial aspect. However, it’s not a good situation as we see on the surface. The genre centralization on pop music market conceives the risk of collapse its own market. The formation of healthy market is mostly based on the various genre of pop music. However, the very same situation as K-pop seems to be happen in the Korean Indie music market. Recently, particular genre friendly singers show up often on the Korean Indie chart after ‘Jang Ki-Ha and the faces.’ Folk Rock music is the most dominant on the Indie chart nowadays thanks to ‘Jang Ki-Ha and the faces’ and ‘10cm.’ This study aims to examine the cause of narrow based genre tendency. For this study, data of recent Indie charts and line-up of Korean music festivals are analyzed and compared in terms of genre. Also data of issued Indie albums since 1996 are analyzed. First, the results of analyses suggested that the genre centralization on Indie chart is mostly based on the consumer’s taste. On the other hand, most of Indie music creators are in modern-rock genre based on the analysis of the issued Indie albums. Furthermore, according to the line-up of Korean music festivals analysis, gate-keeper of Indie music has tendency to make modern-rock friendly environment.
