초록/요약
본 연구에서는 translog 비용함수를 이용하여 국내 제약산업의 비용함수를 추정한 후 이를 통해 규모의 경제를 분석한다. 본고는 규모의 경제 추정을 통해 제약산업의 경제력 강화 방안을 모색하려고 한다. 2000년부터 2010년까지 규모의 경제 분석결과 10년간 규모의 경제 추정치는 1보다 작은 것으로 분석되어 국내 제약산업은 규모의 경제가 존재하는 것으로 분석되었다. 그러나 그 값이 1에 근사한 것으로 추정되어 규모의 경제가 미비한 것으로 관측되었다. 따라서 본 연구의 결과는 제약산업의 R&D 지출이 좀 더 효율적인 방향으로 운용되기 위해 인수합병을 통한 규모의 경제에 대한 모색의 필요성을 시사한다.

In this paper we estimate Cost function and Scale Economies of Pharmaceutical industry in Korean. This study use Translog cost functions to estimate Returns to scales. The data from DART and Kis-value has provided from 2000 to 2009. The finding from empirical test is that Economies of scales of Pharmaceutical industry are less than 1. But Pharmaceutical companies have almost reached the constant returns to scale. The proposal of the results is prudent R&D improvement in the Pharmaceutical industry.
