초록/요약
This paper analyzes the effect of the family size on children’s educational attainment using the 2006 Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing. The results from OLS estimation show that family size has a negative effect on children’s educational attainment. However, estimation results using the first child’s sex as an instrument to obtain exogenous variation in the number of children show no causal effect on children’s educational attainment. Findings suggest that adverse effect on per-child investment in education due to larger family size can be mitigated by other factors.
