Sheet metal forming process is extensively used for producing variable parts such as appliance, automotive and aircraft skins, and so on. The shape error due to springback is a manufacturing defect that should be solved in sheet metal forming process. In order to reduce springback, the alternative process was introduced such as stretch forming which applies pre-stretching before the main process. In this paper, we conducted stretching and bending simultaneously for decreasing springback more. In order to investigate the effect of the simultaneous stretching, the rotatable bending process was designated as the basic process and we compared the springback factors with four processes; rotatable bending process without stretching (wo.stre), pre-stretching and bending process (PB), pre-stretching plus stretching and bending simultaneously (PSB) and stretching and bending simultaneously (SB). In the simulation, we researched the effects of the process type, the amount of stretching length and the sheet thickness. The simulation results were verified through the experiments. Based on the validated results, we applied SB process to the existing stretch-forming and succeeded in reducing springback and simplifying one process step.
