Demand of antimicrobial agents on public are growing up because by them, the effective measurements against the virus which were harmful for human beings are possible. the studies about manufacturing polymer having antimicrobial properties for the purpose of raising the value of commercial polymer were come into notice. But on the mixing process at high temperature, antimicrobial agents show yellowing phenomena. For these weak thermal stability, it is hard to commercialize easily.
First, properties of antimicrobial agent, PHMG-H3PO4, PHMB, and as the reference PHMG-HCl were compared. From the test of TGA, it was known that the agents had three degradation stages and degradation mechanisms were compared from the pylograms at each stage.
The procedure of synthesis between polymer and antimicrobial agents was operated, which was through reaction to prevent some problems mentioned before. Urea reaction was derived during progress of the urethane reaction between H12MDI having isocyanate and PBAG. Before the test of antimicrobial property, the samples dissolved on DMF were precipitated into water. These sample showed antimicrobial property on the antimicrobial test, synthesis of polyurethane having antimicrobial property could be proved. To characterize the properties of synthesized antimicrobial polyurethane, various tests about thermal, rheological, and mechanical properties were operated.
