본 연구에서는 인터넷을 통해 사용 가능한 학습사이트를 구축하여, 이를 통해 학생들은 수업 시간외에도 교과서에 제시되는 어휘 및 문법을 쉽게 접할 수 있고, 게시판을 이용하여 간단한 쓰기를 수행할 수 있도록 하였다. 시대적 흐름과 함께 컴퓨터는 현대 정보화 사회에서 필수 불가결한 도구로, 그 발전 속도도 빠르고 활용 분야도 우리 생활 어느 한 곳 안 미치는 구석이 없을 정도이다. 이러한 환경 속에서 인터넷은 시간과 공간을 초월하여 무한한 자료를 제공하며, 열린 교육이 가능하게 하는 매체라 할 수 있겠고, 이러한 자료를 바탕으로 학습자의 적극적인 상호작용을 실시간으로 가능하게 한다.
본 학습사이트를 이용한 쓰기 능력 검사 결과에서 학습사이트를 이용하지 않는 학생 그룹의 평균 점수 보다 이용한 학생 그룹의 점수가 더 높게 나타났다. 즉, 학습사이트로 인해 약간 이지만 성적 향상이 되었음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이 모든 상황을 고려해 볼 때 인터넷을 이용한 학습사이트의 구축 및 활용은 그 의미가 크다 하겠다.

The purpose of this study is to explore effective ways of teaching English writing, which is geared toward improving a student’s learning motivation. Grammatical knowledge and abundant vocabulary are essential to improve a student’s writing ability as well as effective attitudes toward writing. Nowadays, we are living in an information oriented society. Students who were accustomed to using multimedia are passive in teacher led classes and have low motivation. But the Internet is a little different. It is a good tool of education, and it has enough information for a learner’s desire for studying. It is possible for students to use the Internet for active attitudes about studying. The Internet, therefore, plays an important role in English education. In order to improve a student’s writing ability and learning motivation, I constructed a learning site, which is easily accessible through the Internet.
This learning site is composed of five boards. Students are accustomed to exchanging their thoughts with others on the Internet. So, these boards would help students’ writing ability.
In the Seventh National English Curriculum, it encourages teachers to make the best use of multimedia. The students used this learning site for one month. And then the information on learners was collected and analyzed with a test before and after the treatment. Considering these situations, this learning site has a significant meaning. It says that students have a good impression about an educational method using the Internet. As a result, I have attained the effect that I wanted in this project. The score of the group that used this learning site is higher than that of the group that didn’t use it. And the response of the group that used this learning site is positive about this learning site.
This study proposes to use the Internet in helping students to improve their writing skills and to gain confidence in written English. I believe that this method would be a good form of instruction to integrate grammar practice and vocabulary use.
