수운은 자신의 한 몸, 한 영혼을 유지, 구하는 것이 목적이 아니라, 세상을, 세상 사람을 구하려는 마음에서 도를 구하려 수행했다. 수운은 신비 체험인 ‘오심즉여심’의 체험을 통해 수운은 새로운 인간관, 세계관을 갖게 된다. 한울님 마음과 수운의 마음이 일치하는 체험을 통해 인간의 지평이 한울님의 지평으로 올라서게 되고, 유한적인 인간에서 초월적인 인간으로 새롭게 바라보게 된다.
오심즉여심을 체험하기 위해 그리고 지속적으로 유지하기 위해서는 수양이 필요하다. 수운도 대도를 이루기 전에 10년 넘게 수양을 했고, 체험 후에도 1년 동안 숙고와 내면화의 과정을 보낸다. 수양에 기본은 주문의 암송이다. 특히 13자 본주문(시천주 조화정 영세불망 만사지)이 수양의 측면에서 강조된다. 시천주 사상은 수운에게 기초이자 중요한 것이다. 한울님 모심은 ‘오심즉여심’ 체험에 기초한다. 시천주의 ‘시’, 조화정의 ‘정’ 모두 수양의 과정으로 이해할 수 있다. ‘시’를 수운은 “내유신령, 외유기화, 각지불이”로 설명하는데 여기서 각지불이는 지속적 유지의 의미로 이해된다. ‘정’은 무위이화가 자리할 수 있게 수양하라는 의미이다. 수심정기는 몸과 마음의 수양법이다.
본질적 자아(초월적 인간)를 알아봤고, 인간의 본질을 알고, 유지하는 데 수양이 필요함을 알았다. 수운이 궁극적으로 이해했던 무위이화의 인간은 조화로운 세상을 이루기 위해 노력하는 즉 사회개벽의 인간으로 나아가게 된다. 오심즉여심의 인간들은 각자위심에서 벗어나 동귀일체하게 되고, 한울님 마음으로 살기 때문에 사회의 혼탁함을 적극적으로 개벽해 나간다. 이때가 후천개벽의 시대이다. 수운의 궁극 목적은 사회개혁, 개벽이었고, 그것은 수운의 오심즉여심 이전부터 시작되어 체험으로 구체화, 확정되었고, 특히 무위이화의 사상 안에서 사회개벽의 씨앗을 찾을 수 있다.

Suwoon had the end that didn''t maintain his own body and help his soul, but save people and the world. So he disciplined to seek after truth. Suwoon got the new vision of human being and the world to gain the mystic experience, "My mind is same your mind(osimgukyeosim)". Suwoon made the level of human being higher to Hanwool''s level by this experience. It made the limited human being transcent.
It needs a cultivating one''s mind to experience and maintain that. Suwoon had cultivated his mind for a long time before the mystic experience and he considered and internalized the experience for about one year after that. The base is to chant the spell. Specially, the thirteen characters, the main spell(sichunju-having the Hanwool, johwajung-practical attitude, youngsebulmang-if don''t forget that for ever, mansaji-and know everything) is focused in the cultivation one''s mind. The thought of ''sichunsj'' is basic and important in Suwoon. Having the Hanwool is based on the ''osimgukyeosim'' experience. ''si'' of ''sichunju'' and ''jung'' of ''johwajung'' both of them could be understood as a process of cultivating one''s mind. Suwoon explained the ''si'' as ''naeyousinryoung-being sinryoung inside, yoiyougihwa-being gihwa outside and gakjibulie-each know that and don''t move''. This gakjibulie is understood as a meaning of lasting maintenance. The ''jung'' means that one cultivates one''s mind to fix the muwooiiehwa. The susimjunggi is how to cultivate one''s body and mind.
We study the essential self and know the need to cultivate one''s mind to know and maintain the essence of human being. Finally the understanding human being of Suwoon is the practical human being that make the world better. Suwoon''s human being is free from gakjawooisim, become dongguiilche, live with Hanwool''s mind. Therefore they make the world renewable. This is the huchengaebyok. Suwoon wanted the renewable world finally. This is started from osimgukyeosim and concreted by the experience. We can seek the seed that renew the world in the thought of ''muwooiiehwa''.
