최근 수년 전부터 유비쿼터스 사회에 대한 논의가 활발하게 진행되고 있으며 지난 1988년 마크 와이저(Mark Weiser)가 처음으로 ''유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅''이라는 용어를 사용한 이후 1999년 일본 도쿄대 사카무라 교수팀이 네트워크에 응용한 ‘유비쿼터스 네트워크’라는 용어를 사용하면서 전 세계적인 이슈가 되었다.
WAN망의 디바이스 관리 프로토콜로 SKT 컨소시엄은 SOAP(Simple Object Access Protocol), KT 컨소시엄은 SNMP(Simple Network Management Protocol)을 사용하고 있으며, 홈네트워크의 내부망에서는 A/V 네트워크, 정보 단말 네트워크, 정보 가전 네트워크에 따라 각각 다른 표준화 방식이 사용되고 있는 등 홈네트워크 서비스가 점차 보편화되고 서비스 영역이 확대되어짐에 따라 이들의 하드웨어 및 소프트웨어 기능이 점점 복잡하고 다양해지면서 홈네트워크 서비스 단말기 등의 디바이스 관리 문제가 부각되고 있다.
이에 본 논문에서는 서로 다른 표준화 방식으로 관리되고 있는 홈네트워크의 여러 단말들을 OMA DM(Open Mobile Alliance Device Management) Protocol을 기반으로 하여 OMA DM Protocol의 단점인 클라이언트 서버간 일대일연결, 사설 Internet Protocol(IP)을 가진 단말 관리 불가능, 상이한 네트워크의 단말관리 불가능, 새로운 환경에 따른 관리노드 추가 어려움 등을 마스터 DMC와 Dynamic MO Manager라는 새로운 개념으로 보완하여 기존에 사용되고 있는 방식보다 홈네트워크 단말 관리기능을 향상시키는 방안을 제안하고자 한다.

In the last few years, there has been active discussions on ubiquotous society.Eversince Mark Weiser used the term "Ubiquotous Computing" in 1988, and Sakamura from Tokyo University applied the term "Ubiquotous Network" in 1999,became the worldwide issue.
For the WAN Device Management protocol, SKT consortium uses SOAP(Simple Object Access Protocol), and KT consortium uses SNMP(Simple Network Management Protocol). As Home Network using different protocols(depending on A/V network, device network, and home electronics network)became more available to general public, and hardware/software functions more complex, its device management became an important issue.
By using OMA DM(Open Mobile Alliance Device Management) Protocol as a basis, and compensating for OMA DM''s weaknesses (one to one Server-Client connection, impossible to manage device with private IP address, impossible to manage device on different network, difficult to add a new device), this paper, thesis offers solutions to improve Home Network Device Managemen by applying Master DMC and Dynamic MO Manager concept.
