7차 교육과정에서는 수학적 힘의 신장을 그 목표로 하고 있다. 수학사를 공부하는 것은 학생들이 수학적 사고를 하는데 도움이 될 것이다.
본 논문에서는 수학 수업에 활용할 수 있도록 수학사와 실생활 관련 문제에 대한 자료 개발에 목적을 두었다.
우선, 7차 교육과정의 고등학교 교과서인 수학 I을 가르치고 배우는 수학의 성격과 목표를 알아보았고, 현재 사용되고 있는 10종의 교과서에 있는 수학사와 실생활과 관련된 문제들을 분석한 후, 본론에서는 대수의 역사를 우리나라, 중국, 바빌로니아, 그리스, 인도와 아라비아를 통해 살펴보았다.
그리고 7차 교육과정에서의 고등학교 수학 교과서인 수학 I의 대수 영역인 지수와 로그, 행렬, 수열과 관련된 역사적 배경과 수학자들의 업적과 일화를 알아보았으며, 각 단원과 관련된 실생활 자료를 제시하였다.
결론에서는 수학사와 실생활 예를 잘 활용함으로써 고등학교에서 수학을 효과적으로 가르치는 방안을 제시하였다.

In this 7th curriculum, the object is the improvement of the mathematical power. Studying the history of mathematics can help students to reconsider mathematics ideas.
In this paper, the purpose is to develop teaching materials for high school mathematics which are necessary for students to study mathematics by making effective use of history of mathematics.
We examine the character and object of teaching and learning Mathematics I in the 7th curriculum.
After having analyzed how mathematics history and the materials for every life is described in 10 kinds of the current text, the subject matter of this paper, we describe the historical background of the algebra, for Korea, China, Babylonia, Greece, India and Arabia. And in the 7th curriculum, we describe the historical background of the algebraic, i.e., an exponent and logarithm, the matrix, and the sequence of numbers in high school mathematics text, the Mathematics I, and introduce the achievements and anecedotes of mathematicians, everyday life related to Mathematics I.
In conclusion, we give some suggestions on effective teaching methods in high school mathematics class by making effective use of the history of mathematics and examples related to everyday life.
