‘성장’을 위한 문학 교육 모형 연구 : A Study on the Literary Education Model for 'the Growth'

성장소설은 미성숙한 성장 주체가 성숙하고 완전한 성인의 세계로 들어서기까지 겪는 정서적 아픔과 정신적 성장, 현실의 인식 과정을 주로 다루는 소설을 지칭한다. 문학교육에서 학습자가 중심이고 주체이기 위해서는 학습자의 흥미나 관심을 유발할 수 있는 작품을 선정하는 일이 우선 해결 과제이다. 발달 과정상 청소년기의 가장 큰 관심은 자신의 현재의 모습을 통한 자아의 정체감 획득과 자신의 미래이다. 따라서 성장소설은 학습자 중심의 ‘유의미 학습’에 적절한 소재가 될 수 있다. 교수 학습 현장에서는 성장소설에 대한 학습자들의 관심은 끊임없이 이어져오고 있다. 따라서 필자는 이러한 제반 상황들을 근거로 연구의 필요성을 인식하여, 성장소설의 문학교육에서 지니는 가치와 유용성을 밝히고자 한다. ‘성장’을 위한 문학교육의 모형을 제시하여 문학교육에서 성장소설에 대한 교육적 인식을 확장하고 의미 있는 문학교수학습과정이 되기를 지향하는 것이다. 그 구체적인 논의로 제Ⅰ장에서는 본 연구의 목적과 연구의 대상 및 방법을 설명하였다. 제Ⅱ장에서는 문학교육과 성장소설의 관계를 중심으로 성장소설의 문학 교육적 의미의 측면을 논하였다. 제Ⅲ장에서는 구체적인 작품으로 접근하기 위하여 성장소설에 반복하여 나타나는 요소, 즉 모티프를 찾고 작품들을 비교, 분석하였다. 모티프는 인물의 내적 변화를 다루는 성장소설에서 접근 가능한 기준이라고 생각한다. 문학교육 현장에서 학생들은 성장소설의 주요 모티프를 이해하고, 그 모티프를 중심으로 각각의 소설 속에서 성장의 주인공들이 어떤 성장과정을 거치고, 갈등을 어떻게 해결해 나가는지 구체적으로 살필 수 있다. ‘성의 눈뜸’이란 모티프 아래 김유정「동백꽃」, 황순원 「소나기」를 논의하고 ‘죽음의 인식’이란 모티프 아래 황순원 「별」, 김원일 「어둠의 혼」, 윤흥길 「장마」를 논하였다. 이를 통하여 사랑과 죽음의 경험과 인식과정을 구체적으로 분석하였다. 또한 사랑의 감정의 시작과 죽음의 대상과 주인공의 관계를 살핌으로써 보다 세밀하게 성장의 과정을 접근하였다. 이를 통해 학습자의 미숙에서 성숙으로의 경험과 인식의 확대를 가져오고자 하였다. 제Ⅳ장에서 모티프를 중심으로 살펴본 소설 제재들을 어떻게 문학 교수 학습 현장에 적용시킬 것인가의 문제를 논의하였다. 구체적인 방법론의 모색으로서 내용 구성을 준비학습, 기본학습, 심화 보충 학습으로 나누어 수업모형을 구안하였다. 교수 학습 내용을 구체적인 과제학습장을 통하여 학습자가 능동적으로 참여하게 조직하였다. 이러한 교수 학습 모형이 창출하는 구체적인 문학 교육적 효과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 인간의 성장의 중요한 모티프인 ''''''''성의 눈뜸''''''''과 ''''''''죽음의 인식''''''''과 관계된 소설들을 분석하여 성장의 중요 사건들을 미리 제시하여 학습자가 자신의 성장과정에서 당면할 갈등 상황 혹은 사건에 대해서 보다 구체적으로 접근할 수 있는 계기를 마련하게 된다. 둘째, 주인공의 성장을 다루는 성장 소설에서는 그 인물의 성장을 도와주는 매개적 인물이 등장한다. 이러한 매개적 인물들은 주인공의 각성과 성장에 있어 보다 명확하게 외부세계의 질서를 이해하고 현실인식을 갖도록 도와주는 매우 중요한 역할을 수행한다. 셋째, 학습자는 열린 결말 방식을 통하여 작품을 상상하며 자기 스스로 결말을 만들어 가듯이 성장의 가능성을 찾을 수 있다. 성장소설은 이 가능성을 현실화하여 자신의 삶을 꿈꾸며 능동적으로 이루어가는 소중한 경험을 제공한다는 점에서 문학 교육적 효과가 있다. 제Ⅴ장에서는 이상의 논의를 요약하고 정리하였다. 첫째, 학습자와 유사한 시기의 주인공이 등장하는 성장소설 중심의 수업모형은 문학 작품에 대한 능동적인 학습을 가능하게 되며, 문학교육의 목표 달성에 적절하다. 둘째, 성장소설을 주요 모티프로 살펴봄으로써 학습자는 소설의 내용과 성장의 갈등에 대한 접근이 용이하며 보다 구체적으로 인식하고 주체적으로 읽을 수 있다. 이를 통해 학습자는 자신의 인식을 확장하고 가치관을 넓이는 계기를 삼을 수 있다. 이제까지의 논의를 통해 성장소설이 갖는 문학 교육적인 가치와 적용가능성, 그리고 성장소설 교육의 중요성이 확보가 될 것을 기대하며, 또한 문학 교육 모형 연구의 하나의 중요한 모색이길 바란다.

The initiation novel indicated the novel that described emotional pains, spiritual growth and cognition on the realities until an unmature subject became mature and perfect adult. To let a learner take the lead in literary education, a novel work should be selected to let learners be interested and pay attention. During adolescent period, the youth should get identity by his or her current shape and cognize his or her future. Therefore, the initiation novel could be a suitable subject matter for learner-oriented ''significant learning''. Learners were continuously interested in the initiation novel at teaching-learning. Therefore, the author cognized needs of the study based on the situation and examined values and usefulness of literary education of the initiation novel. The author suggested models of literary education for ''growth'' to expand educational cognition on the initiation novel at literary education and to develop valuable literary teaching-learning. Chapter I discussed purposes of the study, the subjects and methods, etc. Chapter II discussed literary and educational values of the initiation novel based on the relations between literary education and initiation novel. Chapter Ⅲ found the factors, that is, motif that repeatedly made appearance at the initiation novel to approach a concrete novel work, and investigated it. The author thought that the motif was a criteria that the initiation novel could deal with internal changes of characters. At literary education class, students could understand major motif of the initiation novel to examine growth process of the hero of the novels and settlement of conflicts. The study discussed "The camellia flower" of Kim Yu-jeong and "The shower" of Hwang Sun-won under a motif of "the cognition on sex", "The star" of Hwang Sun-won, "The spirit of the dark" of Kim Won-il and "The rainy season" of Yun Heung-kil. The study investigated experience and cognitive process in detail. And, the study examined beginning of love feeling, the object of the death and relations with heros to investigate growth process in detail. In such a way, the study helped learners experience the mature and to expand cognition. Chapter Ⅳ discussed how to apply novel subjects based on motif to teaching-learning class of the literature. The study divided learning process into preparatory level, basic level and advanced level, etc to make teaching models. The study made teaching-learning contents to let learners actively participate in learning. The teaching-learning model had literary and educational effects as follows: Firstly, the study investigated novel regarding "discovery of sex" and "cognition on the death" that were important motif of human growth to suggest important cases of the growth in advance and to deal with conflict situation and cases that learners could meet in their growth process. Secondly, an intermediary who helped hero made appearance at the initiation novel describing the hero''s growth. The intermediary played very much important role in helping the hero understand the order of external world clearly and to cognize the realities. Thirdly, learners imagined novel works by opened ending to find out growth possibility as making ending by themselves. The initiation novel had educational effects because it realized the possibility to dream of their own lives and to supply valuable experience. ChapterⅤ summarized the discussions above. Firstly, the initiation novel oriented instruction model in which a hero made appearance at the time similar to learners helped learners learn literary works actively and to attain objectives of literary education properly. Secondly, the study examined the initiation novel as main motif to let learners easily approach novel contents as well as growth conflicts and to cognize and understand it in detail. By taking the opportunity, learners could expand their own cognition to elevate viewpoints of the value. The author hope that the discussion would attain educational values of the literature, applications of the initiation novel and the values of the initiation novel education and would find out educational model of the literature.
